About

We always get asked about May (our coffee camper):

Does she still drive? Yes

How old is she?

She was born in 1965 in Wolfsburg, Germany,

How long have you had her?

She started life as a bread delivery vehicle for the local bakery and then became a family camper in Poland, before being shipped over to England in 2005 to reside in Malvern. There she was restored by a VW enthusiast and she spent several years as a show car. In 2013, she became a unique working van again when the side and roof was cut out, and converted to the mobile café that she is today, originally called The Split Screen Bakery.

We made the leap and took over in August 2015 after a quick rebrand and slight rename and haven’t looked back.

We also get questions on how we started out:

Have you always been into coffee?

Yes, but not as a career until recently.  I have a background in teaching but decided to make a change when the job became more about testing than about helping to cultivate happy children.

I have worked in cafes and restaurants around the world and had my first Flat White in the 90’s in New Zealand and missed them ever since, I love experimenting now with different types of coffees and milks and now have a favourite that’s a variation on an Americano with hot oat milk.

It is very much a family business and you will often see my husband Mike and our kids in and around when we are working events.  One of perks of the job is being able to attend events all around the country together.  Work isn’t something I do separate from family but something we all work at together.
